Instructional Aide (Grades K-3) | Position Overview
Instructional Aides are responsible for supporting the faithful implementation of the Hillsdale K-12 curriculum,
utilizing classical pedagogy in a self-contained, teacher-led classroom. Aides work collaboratively with
Classroom Teachers in their pursuit of excellence through a robust coaching model in alignment with Hillsdale
College’s Best Practices for K-12 Classical Schools. Aide positions may be part-time or full-time, contingent
upon the Academy’s needs.
Qualifications
- Successful completion of required background check
- Ability to maintain a shared commitment to Columbus Classical Academy’s mission, including demonstrating
moral character and civic virtue in daily interactions and through the pursuit of personal and professional growth
- Instructional Aides are required to complete necessary curriculum training and attend Professional Development
sessions, some of which are held during the summer months.
Additionally, Strong Candidates Will
- Have experience teaching or serving in a support role in a classical school or similar educational setting
- Understand the tenets of a classical, liberal arts education; recommended reading: Tried and True: A Primer on
Sound Pedagogy
- Understand and/or have experience teaching explicit phonics (such as Orton-Gillingham)
- Understand and/or have experience teaching Singapore Math

Application Timeline
Applicants will receive an initial email acknowledgment when application
materials have been submitted. Upon review of materials, applicants proceeding
to formal interviews will be contacted by school leadership to arrange an initial
interview. Applicants invited to second round interviews will be asked to
complete a demonstration lesson followed by a post-lesson debrief and additional
interview session.
