Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Lecturer role based at Debre Berhan University in Ethiopia. The Lecturer will deliver high-quality undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching, including preparing and updating course materials, delivering lectures, leading seminars, and supervising practical sessions. The role involves developing assessments, grading assignments and exams, providing timely feedback, and advising students on academic matters. The Lecturer will participate in research or scholarly activities, contribute to curriculum development, and engage in academic collaboration within the department. Additional responsibilities include attending departmental meetings, contributing to quality assurance processes, and supporting community and institutional service activities as required.
Qualifications
- Relevant master’s degree (or higher) in the appropriate academic discipline from an accredited institution.
- Demonstrated teaching ability at the university level, including lesson planning, classroom management, and student assessment.
- Strong research or scholarly potential, with interest in publishing, presenting, and participating in academic projects.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a diverse student and staff population.
- Ability to design and update curriculum, integrate active learning methods, and use appropriate educational technologies.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple courses and responsibilities.
- Commitment to ethical conduct, student-centered teaching, and inclusive, non-discriminatory academic practices.
- Experience in community engagement, academic advising, or supervision of student projects is an asset.
- Willingness to participate in departmental and university committees, training, and professional development activities.
- Proficiency in English for academic teaching and communication; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
