Role Description/CriteriaWe are seeking enthusiastic and energetic Learning Assistants. Applicants will possess the skills and abilities necessary to provide students with a rich and rewarding educational experience and will embrace a collaborative approach to teaching and learning and wellbeing.This position is a part time position and hours may be negotiated. Role description:
- To enable students with additional needs to experience success, enjoyment, co-operation, respect, independence and responsibility for their learning
- Provide direct or indirect services to students, assist students on an individual or group basis in specific learning areas
- Work under the supervision of a teacher, school leader or the Principal who has the ultimate responsibility for the design, implementation, and evaluation of education programs and related services.
- To develop positive relationships within the school community that foster a sense of belonging and partnership.Duties:
- To work with the educators to meet the needs of the students in small groups or individually.
- To give encouragement and praise to the students.
- To provide assistance to students.
- To reinforce positive behaviours and practices.
- To supervise outside playground activities when appropriate.
- To support an individual child or children on excursions when appropriate.
- To treat all students and families with respect and dignity.
- To keep appropriate records of programs implemented.
- To observe the students’ progress, note achievements and difficulties and share observations with class teachers.
- To keep observations and information of students, parents and other employees confidential.
- To perform clerical tasks, including filing student records, making copies of assessments and other clerical tasks as directed by the Principal or Student Diversity Leader.
- To contribute to PSG meetings when appropriate.
- To attend Professional Development appropriate to their role.
