Position Summary
HomeSTEM Academy is seeking a passionate and engaging K–5 ELA and Social Studies Teacher to provide live virtual instruction, support student growth, and collaborate with families in a highly personalized learning environment.
The ideal candidate believes in strong literacy instruction, family partnership, differentiated learning, and fostering curiosity through meaningful discussions and project-based learning.
Responsibilities
- Teach live virtual ELA and Social Studies classes for students in grades K–5
- Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned to curriculum expectations
- Utilize HomeSTEM Academy instructional resources and learning platforms
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Grade assignments and provide timely feedback
- Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring
- Participate in parent conferences and family communication
- Conduct virtual office hours and student support sessions
- Collaborate with the HomeSTEM Academy team
- Support student participation in literacy and project-based learning activities
Deliverables
- Weekly lesson plans submitted on time
- Live instruction according to assigned schedule
- Student feedback and grading completed weekly
- Progress reports each trimester
- Parent communication maintained regularly
- Attendance and participation records updated
- Participation in staff meetings and professional development
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
- Teaching experience in Elementary Education
- Strong background in reading, writing, and social studies instruction
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Experience using virtual learning platforms such as Zoom, Canvas, Google Classroom, or similar technology
Preferred
- Texas Teaching Certification
- Experience teaching in online or blended environments
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction and literacy intervention
- Experience working with virtual school families
