The advertised post of Clinical Teaching Fellow (CTF) is tenable for a fixed term of 12 months commencing August 2026. Please note that this vacancy is only open to applicants with a minimum of 24 months NHS experience at time of start date.

The post would suit someone who aims to pursue a career in gynaecological oncology and who wishes to develop their interest in teaching whilst broadening their clinical experience. The successful candidate will play a central role in the coordination and delivery of the undergraduate clinical teaching programme for five sessions each week. The remaining five sessions each week will consist of clinical duties and professional development. There are no on-call commitments to the post but locum opportunities may be available. The main clinical duties will be in a Gynaecological Oncology department. Specialist clinics and training can be arranged according to career interests. You will be supervised by a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist who has a large commitment to undergraduate training.

Applications are invited from registered Medical Practitioners, ideally who possess MRCOG part 1 or equivalent, for the above post based across the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.

The department provides undergraduate teaching to medical students from Newcastle University as part of their Women’s Health rotations. Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the successful applicant would be expected to provide teaching to individuals and small groups in addition to being trained as a simulation training faculty member whilst in post. The postholder would be expected to participate in student induction sessions and assessment sessions throughout the academic year. A variety of clinical sessions are provided within the job plan and it is expected that these will provide the postholder with valuable clinical experience as well as providing an opportunity to deliver clinical teaching.
