Overview
Innovation Camp Lecturer/Mentor Jobs in Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR at Hong Kong Center for Construction Robotics
Title: Innovation Camp Lecturer/Mentor
Company: Hong Kong Center for Construction Robotics
Location: Hong Kong, Hong Kong SAR
Position Overview
This role serves as a Lecturer/Mentor for the Centre's Innovation Camps, Mini-Camps, robotics competitions, and other STEM education programs, taking on responsibilities in curriculum planning, technical mentoring, project facilitation, and evaluation.
We are not looking for someone who simply delivers knowledge through lectures. Instead, we seek an entrepreneurial technical mentor who can employ project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based facilitation as core methodologies, providing technical expertise while accompanying students through the journey from problem identification to product definition. You will lead student teams with a "learning by doing" approach, offering hands-on technical mentorship in hardware design, system integration, algorithm implementation, and more—encouraging bold hypotheses, rapid iteration, and innovative solutions to genuine industry pain points.
We expect you to have a solid understanding of and alignment with the XbotPark New Engineering Education philosophy—a problem-driven, project-based, and student-centered approach that cultivates interdisciplinary talent with entrepreneurial thinking and hands-on engineering capabilities.
Key Responsibilities
Curriculum Planning & Instructional Design
- Contribute to the camp curriculum design in construction robotics/smart construction, integrating XbotPark New Engineering Education principles into teaching modules
- Design project-based learning (PBL) challenges covering industry pain-point exploration, technology path selection, product definition, and prototype validation
- Prepare technical reference materials, hardware/software solution templates, and supporting teaching resources
Technical Mentoring & Project Facilitation (Non-Traditional Teaching)
- Serve as a technical mentor and facilitator rather than a lecturer—stimulate students' independent thinking and decision-making through technical reviews, design critiques, and iterative feedback
- Provide hands-on technical guidance in hardware development, embedded systems, algorithm deployment, and system integration
- Guide student teams through the full cycle from problem definition to functional prototype delivery; help them make sound decisions in technology selection, system architecture, and product definition
- Organize team discussions, project reviews, and pitch sessions; help students develop engineering and product mindsets
Teaching Support
- Participate in overall camp instructional design and scheduling
- Assist in organizing site visits and company tours
- Support the Centre in preparing teaching evaluations and summary reports
Requirements
Core Competencies:
- Excellent writing and proposal development skills; ability to independently create and deliver PPT presentations
- Strong data analysis and research capabilities
- Clear logical thinking and structured mindset
- Fast learning ability; ability to thrive in a fast-paced innovation and entrepreneurship environment; genuine passion for tech entrepreneurship
- Composed, detail-oriented, with strong communication, coordination, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Willing and able to travel frequently and work flexible hours; strong resilience under pressure
- Well-rounded, proactive, with a global perspective
Professional Background & Experience
- Master's degree or above in Robotics, Automation, Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, or related fields
- Solid understanding of the XbotPark New Engineering Education system, with alignment to project-based learning (PBL) and inquiry-based facilitation; relevant teaching or TA experience is a plus
- Hands-on product R&D experience in smart construction/construction robotics, or full-cycle smart hardware entrepreneurship experience (from concept to mass production), with a deep understanding of the technical challenges and key decision points in hard-tech startups
- Strong engineering practice capability in at least one technical area: robotic system design, mechatronics, embedded systems, computer vision, or SLAM
- Familiarity with the engineering process from prototype to product; understanding of industrialization factors such as cost control, supply chain management, and reliability design in hardware product development
- Experience in project-based teaching; ability to serve as both a "technical mentor" and a "facilitator," leading students through 0-to-1 product definition and prototyping
- Experience in mentoring robotics competitions (e.g., RM, RC) is a plus
- Excellent command of both English and Chinese; Cantonese proficiency is a plus
- Passion for hard-tech entrepreneurship and innovative education; entrepreneurial mindset and open attitude
What You Gain
- Deep involvement in HKCRC's teaching and technological innovation practices in smart construction
- Close collaboration with top industry experts and entrepreneurial teams
- Tangible impact on cultivating innovation talent and hard-tech entrepreneurship education
- Opportunity to participate in HKCRC's cutting-edge research and commercialization projects
