In-School Reassignment (ISR) Monitor

Qualifications

  • Must have completed at least 2 years of study forty-eight (48) semester hours, at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associate’s degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality as determined by a formal assessment, (Mississippi Test: ACT Work Keys – Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Writing Subtests).
  • In accordance with Mississippi Code S37-9-17, all personnel employed by the public-school system shall be required to pass a criminal background check and a current child abuse registry check.
  • A satisfactory employment record.

REPORTS TO Building Principal, Assistant Principal, and/or Director

JOB GOAL

Supervise and monitor students assigned to the In-School Reassignment Program.

Essential Functions

Such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned, including but not limited to:

  • Participate in the district and school professional development programs.
  • Comply with all district policies and procedures.
  • Model good reading, writing, and speaking skills for students.
  • Monitors and guides all assignments, provides encouragement and feedback to students, monitor tests, computer work, and provides instructional assistance as appropriate.
  • Reports to certified teacher when misunderstanding of an assignment is detected for immediate re-teaching/reinforcing purposes.
  • Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary including but not limited to the following: cafeteria, restroom, water fountain, and playground.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students as is expected of a fully licensed teacher.
  • Reinforces the rules of the school and learning environment; Acknowledges and encourages appropriate behavior and distinguishes inappropriate behavior for the students’ understanding.
  • Works with students and or staff members during student reflection period on issues such as behavior management and the prevention of undesirable behaviors that resulted in students being assigned to ISR.
  • Ability to manage multi-age and multi-grade students in one setting.
  • Collects, analyze, track, report, maintain, and disseminate behavioral progress and other reports as directed by supervisor.
  • Follow best practices for behavioral interventions, and other topics for the purpose of developing skills and establishing effective relationships with students with challenging behaviors.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

Additional Duties

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Building Principal, Superintendent and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel Requirements

Travel to school district buildings, and professional meetings as required.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

184 days annually with salary in accordance with the Administrative Salary Schedule as approved by the Harrison County School District.

EVALUATION

Performance of the In-School Reassignment Monitor will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions in the School Board Policies and Procedures.
