Nahar International School invites applications for the position of IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) Computer Science Faculty.
About the Role
As an IBDP Computer Science educator, you will deliver a rigorous, inquiry-based curriculum that emphasizes computational thinking, algorithmic design, and programming using Python. You will guide students in developing solutions to real-world problems while fostering critical thinking, collaboration, and ethical awareness.
The role involves teaching both Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL) students in alignment with the IB philosophy and curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and concept-driven lessons aligned with the IBDP Computer Science curriculum (2027)
- Develop students’ computational thinking skills, including problem decomposition, abstraction, pattern recognition, and algorithm design
- Teach programming using Python, facilitate object-oriented programming (OOP) and advanced HL concepts
- Guide students in the Internal Assessment (Computational Solution), supporting them in designing, developing, and evaluating software solutions
- Prepare students for external assessments (Papers 1 & 2) and case study analysis
- Encourage interdisciplinary learning through TOK, CAS, and Extended Essay supervision
- Foster collaborative and inquiry-based learning environments in line with IB pedagogy
- Participate in curriculum planning, documentation, trainings, assessments, and school initiatives
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Computer Science / IT / Related Field
- IBDP teaching experience preferred (especially Computer Science)
- Strong proficiency in Python programming (mandatory)
- Experience teaching algorithms, data structures, and OOP concepts
- Familiarity with IB assessment practices and inquiry-based teaching approaches
- Experience guiding student research/projects (IA or equivalent)
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of computational thinking and problem-solving pedagogy
- Ability to connect theoretical concepts to real-world applications
- Proficiency in:
- -Debugging, testing, and evaluating code
- -Database concepts (SQL preferred)
- -Emerging areas such as machine learning (basic exposure desirable)
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to academic integrity and ethical use of technology
- Ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learners
- Enthusiasm for innovation and continuous professional development
