Role Description The High School Social Studies Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons in Social Studies and World History aligned with IB standards and the school’s curriculum. This full-time, on-site role in Kathmandu involves creating lesson plans, assessing student learning, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records of student progress. The teacher will facilitate classroom discussions, encourage critical thinking, integrate global and local perspectives, and support students in developing research and analytical skills. Daily responsibilities also include collaborating with colleagues on curriculum development, participating in school events, communicating regularly with families and guardians, and contributing to a positive, inclusive school culture.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Social Studies and World History, with the ability to connect historical events to contemporary global issues.
- Experience in Curriculum Development and Education, preferably within IB or other international programs.
- Excellent Communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and foster respectful classroom dialogue.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, History, Social Sciences, or a related field; teaching certification or license is preferred.
- Classroom teaching experience at the high school level, ideally in an international or multicultural setting.
- Ability to use educational technology and digital resources to enhance teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive, learner-centered pedagogy and support for diverse learning needs.
- Collaborative mindset, reliability, and willingness to participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
