Role Description The Head of Secondary is a full-time, on-site leadership role based in Hawally, responsible for overseeing and guiding all aspects of the secondary school. This role involves managing the secondary academic program, leading and supporting teachers, and ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student wellbeing. The Head of Secondary collaborates with senior leadership to develop and implement school policies, curriculum initiatives, and improvement plans. Daily responsibilities include observing lessons, providing feedback, coordinating assessments, supporting behavior and pastoral systems, engaging with parents and guardians, and ensuring compliance with relevant educational standards and regulations. The role also includes mentoring staff, leading professional development, and contributing to the strategic vision and culture of the school.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in secondary school leadership, such as Head of Department, Deputy Head, or similar role.
  • Strong instructional leadership skills, including curriculum planning, assessment oversight, and data-informed decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams, mentor educators, and foster a collaborative and inclusive school culture.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, staff, families, and external stakeholders.
  • Recognized teaching qualification and a bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; a master’s degree in Educational Leadership or similar is highly desirable.
  • Experience working in an international or diverse school environment and familiarity with modern educational frameworks and best practices.
  • Ability to handle operational and administrative responsibilities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and policy implementation.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and continuous school improvement.
