Role Description The Head of Humanities will lead the Humanities department, with a particular focus on teaching Geography and Business at secondary level. This full-time, on-site role in Kampala includes planning and delivering engaging lessons aligned with IMYC, IGCSE, and International A-Levels, assessing student progress, and providing constructive feedback. The role involves mentoring and supporting Humanities teachers, coordinating curriculum development, and ensuring high academic standards across relevant subjects. The Head of Humanities will collaborate with school leadership to implement strategic initiatives, contribute to co-curricular activities, and support a positive, inclusive learning environment. Participation in parent communication, professional development, and whole-school events is expected.

Qualifications

  • Possess qualifications as a Secondary Education teacher with formal recognition as a Qualified Teacher.
  • Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and classroom experience in Geography and, ideally, Business at secondary level.
  • Show proven ability in Curriculum Development, including planning, implementing, and reviewing Humanities programs.
  • Exhibit excellent Communication skills for working effectively with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Hold a relevant degree in Education, Humanities, Geography, Business, or a related field, with additional leadership experience in schools considered an asset.
  • Bring experience with international curricula (IMYC, IGCSE, A-Levels or similar) and a commitment to holistic, student-centered learning.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational, mentoring, and team leadership capabilities, and openness to ongoing professional growth.
