Job Summary
The Grammar School Math Specialist holds the primary responsibility of teaching the CGPS math curriculum and ensuring the success of its students. The Grammar School Math Specialist is committed to continuously improving the math curriculum and instructional practices through reflection, collaboration, and data-driven practices.This leave replacement will begin in September 2025 and go through November 2025.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Plans for and implements instruction in grades one through five, using co-teaching models, to differentiate, including remediation and enrichment
Uses the CGPS Framework for Teaching to guide their professional practice
Keeps abreast of current best practices and research in mathematics education
Works closely with the Grammar School Math Department Head and the Director of Curriculum and Instruction to ensure consistency, continuity, and coherence of the math curriculum
Collaborates with colleagues in the math department to develop and document the written, taught, and assessed curriculum
Collects and curates enrichment materials for students in grades one through five
Collaborates with classroom teachers to analyze and use multiple forms of data, including MAP, to inform instructional decisions that positively impact student learning
Presents and facilitates professional and family learning experiences (ie: faculty meetings and Family Learning Sessions)
Communicates positively and respectfully with all members of the Grammar School community, including colleagues, school administrators, and parents
Co-leads morning and after school math programs, as needed
Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Divisional Director
Skills
Excellent organizational skills
Demonstrated expertise in contemporary mathematics pedagogy
Adept at using technology to enhance student learning
Evidence of successful collaboration focused on student success
Effective communicator; ability to communicate articulately (verbal and written) with the community (school and families)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education is required; an advanced degree in mathematics teaching is preferred
NYS teaching certification is preferred
Three to five years of upper elementary math teaching experience
