Role Description The Full-Time Tourism Faculty role is an on-site position based at Lyceum of the Philippines University in Manila. The faculty member will design, deliver, and continuously improve tourism-related courses, including preparing syllabi, lectures, learning materials, and assessments aligned with program outcomes and industry standards. Daily responsibilities include teaching undergraduate classes, facilitating discussions and experiential learning activities, mentoring and advising students on academic and career pathways, and maintaining regular consultation hours. The role also involves contributing to curriculum development, engaging in scholarly or applied research in tourism and hospitality, and collaborating with colleagues on program initiatives, accreditation efforts, and community or industry partnerships. Faculty members are expected to participate in departmental meetings, university events, and professional development activities that support teaching excellence and student success.

Qualifications

  • Strong academic background in Tourism, Hospitality Management, Travel Management, or a closely related field; a master’s degree is required, and a doctorate is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability at the tertiary level or substantial industry experience in tourism, travel, hospitality, or related sectors that can be translated into effective classroom instruction.
  • Knowledge of current trends, best practices, and regulations in tourism, including sustainable tourism, destination management, customer experience, and global industry standards.
  • Proficiency in curriculum design, lesson planning, student assessment, and the use of learner-centered and outcomes-based teaching methodologies.
  • Ability to integrate educational technologies and learning management systems into teaching, including online resources, multimedia content, and digital collaboration tools.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic community and foster an inclusive learning environment.
