About the Role
Working full-time in a supportive team of three teachers, this person will help link Junior High aged students with the Montessori curriculum and Alberta Curriculum in the prepared Erdkinder environment. MMEC is located in NW Calgary near the Foothills Hospital.
Requirements
Alberta Teaching Certificate
Bachelor of Education degree
Current Police Check and Child Welfare Check
Skills
-Interested in Montessori methodology and philosophy
-Knowledgeable about the Alberta Curriculum for grade 7-9
-Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
-Caring, patient, positive, and flexible with a strong work ethic
Responsibilities
-In a team, plan and deliver lessons integrating Montessori curriculum with the Alberta Curriculum
-Work with individuals and small groups; hold regular student meetings (every 1–2 weeks)
-Observe students and provide guidance, redirection, and support as needed
-Maintain accurate academic and attendance records
-Build relationships to support student work experience/apprenticeship programs
-Create, repair, and maintain classroom materials and supplies
-Lead outdoor/gardening work, and two Odyssey Trips per year
-Supervise the classroom, including during emergency procedures
-Complete student report cards, lesson tracking, and parent/guide conferences
-Attend staff meetings and support school administration as needed
-Represent the school and Montessori method positively to families and the community

Google Docs, custom report card software, and audiovisual equipment
- Full-time position with benefits, salary: $58K-$78K depending on years of experience.
