POSTING #24/25-13b JUNE 10, 2024 JOB POSTING SILVERTHORNE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL 1.0 FTE CONTINUING ASSIGNMENT (.70 FTE LEARNER SUPPORT / .30 FTE PREP) EFFECTIVE:
September 1, 2024 This position is eligible for the current provincial recruitment and retention allowance for new teachers to SD54. The successful candidate will:
Be able to develop and implement appropriate individualized educational plans for students with disabilities and
diverse
needs;
Trained in Level B assessment and testing;
Be able to adapt and modify curriculum and materials to enable students with disabilities and
diverse
needs to participate meaningfully in the regular classroom;
Be committed to work collaboratively with parents, teachers other resource personnel, and school- based teams;
Be able to work with students with a variety of behaviors and use positive approaches to support behaviour change;
Be committed to and practice the philosophy of
inclusion
;
Be knowledgeable of current research and instructional strategies related to
inclusion
of children with disabilities and
diverse
needs;
Have a commitment to the direction of the school as outlined in the School Growth Plan;
Embed the First Nations Principles of Learning in all subject areas;
Be knowledgeable of technological and other strategies to support students with specific disabilities;
Have knowledge and commitment to using current assessment strategies, including formative assessment;
Be familiar with the Response to Intervention (RTI) model;
Be committed to consultation, parent conferences, and positive home/school/community liaison;
Be committed to team teaching with classroom teachers and be able to communicate well in order to establish a consistent culture for learning. Applicants should be aware that attendance at staff meetings,
professional development
activities and school-based team meetings is considered an integral element of assignments.

The starting annual salary for full-time Elementary School position ranges from $62,718 to $110,161, with placement on the range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with the collective agreement. Additionally, $3,035 annually as a Remote & Rural Allowance.
