Role Description The Food and Beverage Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based at the IIHM campus in Bengaluru. This role involves overseeing daily food and beverage operations, ensuring high standards of service, quality, and hygiene in dining areas, cafes, and training restaurants. The specialist will coordinate with culinary teams to design menus, support practical training sessions, and help deliver an excellent guest and student experience. Responsibilities include managing customer interactions, handling feedback, monitoring inventory and presentation, and maintaining compliance with institutional and industry standards. The role also requires collaborating with faculty and staff to support hospitality education initiatives and special events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver theoretical and practical lessons in food & beverage service, restaurant operations, bar management, wine and spirits.
  • Develop course materials, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments in alignment with institute and industry standards.
  • Conduct hands-on training sessions in mock restaurant or bar setups.
  • Guide students in understanding global service standards, menu planning, beverage knowledge, and guest service etiquette.
  • Supervise and evaluate student performance through practical exams and class participation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, innovations, and emerging technologies in food & beverage service.
  • Participate in academic planning, curriculum development, and faculty meetings.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Coordinate with the training kitchen and front office faculty for interdisciplinary projects and events.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and hygiene regulations during practical sessions.
  • Organize industry visits, guest lectures, and live event catering opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Hotel Management, Hospitality Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of industry experience in food & beverage operations.
  • Prior teaching/training experience in an academic or professional setting preferred.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.

Desirable Skills:

  • Certification in food safety, wine & spirits, or bar management (e.g., WSET, HACCP, etc.). (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and digital teaching tools.
  • Experience in event management or banquet operations is a plus.
