English Teacher
Purpose of Role
To deliver high-quality English lessons across all secondary year groups within an international school environment, developing students’ literacy, communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills while supporting their academic and personal growth.

English Teacher
Teaching & Learning
- Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging English lessons across all secondary year groups.
- Teach English Language and Literature in line with the school’s curriculum and academic standards.
- Develop students’ skills in reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, and literary analysis.
- Differentiate lessons to meet the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
- Use a range of teaching strategies, assessment methods, and educational technology to enhance learning.
- Prepare students for internal and external examinations, including Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE assessments where applicable.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Undertake such other duties, including the teaching of additional subjects where required, as may reasonably be assigned by the School Leadership Team to meet the operational and educational needs of the School.
Curriculum and Assessment
- Implement and maintain the school’s curriculum and assessment framework.
- Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessment resources.
- Set, mark, and moderate assignments, coursework, tests, and examinations.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, academic progress, and assessment data.
- Participate in curriculum review, planning, and departmental development initiatives.
Classroom Management and Student Development
- Establish and maintain a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Promote high standards of behaviour, discipline, and academic achievement.
- Support students’ academic, emotional, and social development.
- Identify students requiring additional support and collaborate with relevant staff and parents where necessary.
Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and wellbeing.
- Attend parent-teacher meetings, staff meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.
- Collaborate with colleagues to support departmental and whole-school initiatives.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, literacy programmes, competitions, and enrichment activities.
Professional Responsibilities
- Uphold professional standards and adhere to school policies, procedures, and safeguarding requirements.
- Participate actively in professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by the school leadership team.
Line management
The Teacher will report to the Head of Department/Head of Secondary.
