Ican Kids is looking for a passionate and caring Assistant Teacher who loves working with children and creating a warm, supportive environment for them. The ideal candidate demonstrates kindness, understanding, patience, attentiveness, and a genuine willingness to help every child. We expect our Assistant Teacher to strive to create a safe, inspiring learning atmosphere that encourages positive behaviour, curiosity, and engagement.
A successful candidate maintains a respectful and nurturing environment, taking into account each child’s individual needs, interests, and learning styles. As part of our team, you will assist lead teachers, participate in classroom activities, resolve conflicts calmly and fairly, and promote positive communication among children. The English-speaking Assistant Teacher cooperates with colleagues and children, supports educational and creative projects, and represents our kindergarten at internal and external events. At ICan Kids, the main language of communication is English, and the Assistant communicates with children only in English. Communication with colleagues may take place in English, or Greek, depending on mutual understanding.
Requirements:
- Educational diploma or degree (Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy or related field preferred)
- Experience working with young children (preschool)
- Kind and positive attitude towards children, with a desire to help them grow and reach their potential
- English language proficiency B2 level or higher
- Ability to communicate effectively with children, team members, and parents
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to stay calm in stressful situations
- Flexibility, openness to change, and willingness to learn and develop
Responsibilities:
- Assistant the teacher in organizing educational and play-based activities
- Maintain a safe, friendly, and respectful classroom atmosphere
- Communicate with children exclusively in English, encouraging speaking skills through play and daily interactions
- Support children during lessons, walks, meals, assisting with hygiene, creative and developmental activities
- Observe and support children’s emotional and behavioural well-being
- Encourage independence, responsibility, and social skills
- Keep the classroom and playground clean and organized
- Cooperate with teachers, parents, and staff to create a positive learning environment
- Read books to children and foster a love of reading
- Participate in team meetings, parent gatherings, and kindergarten events
