Overview
Elementary School Teacher, Alpha – $100,000/year USD Jobs in Houston, TX at Crossover
Title: Elementary School Teacher, Alpha – $100,000/year USD
Company: Crossover
Location: Houston, TX
Young students don't always recall the details of every lesson—but they never forget the teacher who saw their potential. That defines this position.
Alpha students finish their academic work in only two hours each day, powered by adaptive learning platforms. This structure allows Guides to dedicate their energy to what truly transforms lives: fostering resilience, confidence, strong communication, and the drive to embrace difficult challenges. Your day won't revolve around standing in front of a classroom delivering content. Instead, you'll coach students as they work through obstacles, recognize their progress, and help them experience what rigorous standards look like when backed by authentic belief in their abilities.
You will guide a single K-3 cohort band—Kindergarten-1st grade or 2nd-3rd grade. Roughly half of each day is devoted to facilitating dynamic, one-hour workshops focused on life skills such as public speaking, concentration, and receiving feedback. The remaining time is dedicated to individual and small-group coaching, leveraging learning analytics to ensure every student progresses toward ambitious weekly targets. Every moment counts. Workshop participants should emerge more skilled than when they entered, and coaching conversations should leave students convinced they are capable of far more than they previously imagined.
This position is not suited for someone seeking to implement scripted lessons or manage traditional classroom routines. It's designed for individuals who are passionate about motivating elementary-aged children, energized by measurable progress, and confident that the right mentor can fundamentally alter a child's path. If you've inspired young people as an educator, athletic coach, camp leader, youth program director, or performer, you'll discover an entirely different classroom model here.
This is a full-time, in-person position based at one of Alpha's campus locations. Because we recruit across the country, this posting may appear in cities where we do not currently operate a campus.
Active openings at this compensation level are located in Scottsdale, AZ; Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK; Nashville, TN; Austin, Georgetown, Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth, and Houston, TX; and Park City (Salt Lake City area), UT.
If your preferred location is a different Alpha campus, we encourage you to apply and specify your location preference—we will review your candidacy for the relevant opportunity.
What You Will Be Doing
- Facilitate dynamic life-skills workshops designed to help K-3 students develop communication, focus, feedback fluency, and other foundational competencies through hands-on engagement rather than passive instruction.
- Provide one-on-one and small-group coaching using Coachbot analytics, research-backed motivation techniques, and strong interpersonal connections to ensure each child meets ambitious weekly learning targets.
- Evaluate life-skill proficiency using Alpha's Test2Pass system, continuing to coach students until they exhibit genuine mastery—not simply attendance or effort.
- Tailor your coaching approach to fit the developmental stage of your cohort, incorporating songs, physical activity, and narratives for younger students while increasing autonomy and responsibility for older learners.
- Cultivate relationships that give students the confidence to attempt challenges they previously believed were beyond their reach.
What You Won’t Be Doing
- Delivering academic instruction from the front of the room. Core academics are learned via adaptive technology.
- Designing curriculum materials from the ground up. You will refine and personalize existing, proven lesson frameworks rather than creating new content.
- Supervising students as they quietly complete computer-based work. Your function is active mentorship, encouragement, and relationship-building.
- Reducing standards when students encounter difficulty. Progress is achieved by supporting students to meet high expectations, not by lowering the bar.
- Overseeing homework assignments, grading assessments, or managing day-to-day parent correspondence.
