Role Description
The 1st Grade Teacher is a full-time, on-site position based in Tegucigalpa. The teacher is responsible for creating a nurturing, Christ-centered classroom where young learners develop academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. This role involves planning and delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in core elementary subjects while fostering curiosity, character, and a love for learning.
The 1st Grade Teacher will assess student progress, differentiate instruction to meet individual needs, maintain accurate records, and provide regular communication with families. The teacher will cultivate a safe, joyful, and inclusive learning environment that reflects the school's mission of developing students with a biblical worldview, strong character, academic excellence, and a heart for serving others.
Additional responsibilities include collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development, contributing to school events, and actively supporting the school's Christ-centered mission and community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or a related field; teaching certification or licensure is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience teaching early elementary students, preferably 1st Grade.
- Strong knowledge of elementary literacy, mathematics, and inquiry-based instructional practices aligned with American standards.
- Ability to plan, implement, and assess engaging, developmentally appropriate lessons while differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Excellent classroom management skills that promote a positive, respectful, and nurturing learning environment.
- Strong communication skills with students, families, and colleagues in a bilingual and multicultural community.
- A personal commitment to modeling Christian values and supporting the school's Christ-centered mission and vision.
- Collaborative mindset, flexibility, and dedication to continuous professional growth.
- Experience in an international or bilingual school setting is considered an asset.
