THE ROLE / TE MAHI
We are seeking a permanent, fulltime Educational Interpreter to work with and support our learners and teaching team at Hillmorton High School. The successful applicant will be required to interpret and translate in and around the educational setting ensuring that the student/s are able to understand, fully participate and achieve. Ability to adapt to the style of teaching as well as the needs and language level of the learner is essential to this role.
About You / Mō Koe
Prerequisites to be successful in this role are:
- Approved qualifications in New Zealand Sign Language and interpreter training
- Previous experience working in educational settings, sign language resource development and translations services, would be preferred, but is not essential
- A current drivers licence
- Highly motivated, flexible, and capable of managing one's own workload
- Understanding and respect of Deaf culture
- Desire to focus on the needs of learners
- Flexible and able to adapt to a variety of situations and needs
Our ideal candidate will be someone who has a passion for education, communication and success and can adapt across a range of age ranges and learning levels and will also be registered with the Sign Language Interpreters Association of New Zealand.
