Title: Education Officer

Company: Animal Welfare League Qld

Location: South East Nanango, Queensland, Australia

NFP | Part-time arrangements considered | Reporting to: Community Wellbeing and Education Manager

About Us

At Animal Welfare League Queensland (AWLQ), we believe stronger communities create better outcomes for companion animals. Our vision is that every companion animal has a safe and caring environment where their needs are respected and met. Recognising the interconnection between animal and human wellbeing, we provide care and support for both, fostering a brighter future for our community.

Inspire learning. Strengthen communities. Improve the lives of people and companion animals.

As part of our new Community and Companion Animal Wellbeing Strategy 2026–2029, we're investing in prevention, education and early intervention to help keep people and their companion animals together. We're looking for an enthusiastic and engaging Education Officer to help bring this vision to life.

If you're passionate about education, enjoy working with people of all ages and backgrounds, and want to make a genuine difference in your community, we'd love to hear from you.

About The Role

Reporting to the Community Wellbeing and Education Manager, you'll design, deliver and evaluate engaging education programs that build knowledge, encourage responsible companion animal guardianship and support positive behaviour change.

No two days will be the same. One day you might be delivering an interactive session at a primary school, the next facilitating learning with TAFE or university students, developing new education resources, or representing AWLQ at a community event.

Working as part of a collaborative and innovative team, you'll help deliver education initiatives that are evidence-informed, engaging and responsive to the needs of Queensland communities.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys connecting with people and creating meaningful learning experiences.

You'll Bring:

  • Experience developing and delivering education, training or community learning programs.
  • Confidence presenting to a wide range of audiences, from school students through to adult learners.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A collaborative approach and a genuine passion for community education.
  • The ability to build positive relationships with schools, TAFE, universities, community organisations and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to continuous learning, innovation and improving community outcomes.
  • Experience in education, teaching, health promotion, community development, community services or the not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.
  • Experience in animal welfare is welcomed but is not essential.

Why Join AWLQ?

This is an opportunity to join a passionate team helping shape a new approach to community and companion animal wellbeing.

You'll Enjoy:

  • A rewarding role that creates meaningful community impact.
  • The opportunity to develop and deliver innovative education programs.
  • A supportive, collaborative and values-driven team.
  • Professional development and ongoing learning opportunities.
  • Flexible work arrangements, with part-time considered for the right candidate.
  • The chance to help improve the lives of people and companion animals across Queensland.

Ready to Make a Difference?

If you're an engaging educator who believes education has the power to strengthen communities and improve the wellbeing of people and companion animals, we'd love to hear from you.
