Dr. Eduardo Blanco Calvo is a Tenured Associate Professor in Psychobiology at the University of Málaga (UMA), with over 15 years of experience in preclinical research on drug addiction and neuropharmacology.
He leads the Laboratory of Experimental Dr. Eduardo Blanco Calvo is a tenured Associate Professor in Psychobiology at the University of Málaga, with more than 20 years of experience in preclinical research on drug addiction and neuropharmacology.
He works in the Laboratory of Experimental Neuropsychopharmacology (Faculty of Psychology), focused on understanding the neurobiological substrates of addictive behaviours and the long-term impact of drug exposure on brain function and behaviour.
The research group combines behavioural neuroscience, pharmacological interventions, and animal models of substance use disorders (cocaine and alcohol) to explore vulnerability and resilience mechanisms, with a growing interest in the intersection with neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease.
The laboratory has a solid track record of publications in high-impact journals, participation in national and international projects, and established collaborations with leading researchers in neuropsychopharmacology.

The Selected MSCA PF Candidate Will Be Invited To Develop a Proposal Aligned With One Or More Of The Following Areas
Neuropharmacological mechanisms of addiction
, with a focus on psychostimulants (e.g., cocaine) and depressants (e.g., alcohol).
Long-term behavioural and neurochemical consequences of drug exposure
, including compulsive drug-seeking, relapse, and cognitive impairment.
Interactions between addiction and neurodegenerative diseases
, such as Parkinson's disease, exploring common dopaminergic dysregulation and vulnerability pathways.
Development of novel preclinical models and pharmacological strategies
for prevention and treatment of addictive behaviours.
We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in
behavioural neuroscience, neuropsychopharmacology, or related biomedical fields

rodent models, stereotaxic surgery, neurochemical techniques (IHC, WB, rt-q-PCR, ELISA) and chemogenetic techniques (DREADDs)
