Job Summary:

The Director of Academic Affairs is responsible for planning, managing, and monitoring all academic operations of the institution. The role ensures effective implementation of academic policies, compliance with regulatory bodies such as University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, and affiliating university norms, while maintaining academic quality, faculty coordination, student academic administration, and institutional development.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Administration

  • Supervise and coordinate all academic activities across departments.
  • Ensure smooth conduct of teaching-learning processes, examinations, academic calendars, and classroom scheduling.
  • Monitor implementation of curriculum, syllabus completion, and academic delivery standards.
  • Coordinate with Heads of Departments, Deans, and faculty members for academic planning.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with norms and regulations of University Grants Commission, All India Council for Technical Education, NAAC, NBA, and affiliating universities.
  • Maintain academic records, statutory reports, and documentation required for inspections and audits.
  • Coordinate accreditation and ranking-related activities.

Faculty Management

  • Assist in recruitment, onboarding, orientation, and appraisal of faculty members.
  • Monitor faculty workload, attendance, lesson plans, and academic performance.
  • Organize Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), workshops, seminars, and training initiatives.

Student Academic Support

  • Oversee student academic progress, mentoring systems, attendance monitoring, and grievance handling.
  • Coordinate academic counseling and student performance improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure proper implementation of examination policies and academic discipline.

Academic Planning & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and implement academic policies, SOPs, and quality benchmarks.
  • Analyze academic performance data and recommend improvements.
  • Promote outcome-based education, research culture, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning.

Coordination & Communication

  • Act as a liaison between management, faculty, students, examination department, and regulatory authorities.
  • Prepare academic reports, presentations, meeting minutes, and policy documents.
  • Participate in strategic planning and institutional development activities.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s Degree with excellent academic record.
  • Ph.D. preferred in relevant discipline.
  • Qualification and experience as per applicable University Grants Commission / All India Council for Technical Education norms.

Experience

  • Minimum 8–15 years of experience in academics/academic administration.
  • Experience in higher education institutions/universities preferred.
  • Prior leadership or administrative experience is desirable.
