Role Description
The Data Science Mentor role is a full-time, on-site position based in Trivandrum. The mentor will guide students through data science curricula, explain core concepts, and support hands-on projects involving real-world datasets. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering classroom sessions, conducting doubt-clearing and review sessions, providing individualized feedback on assignments, and mentoring learners on interview preparation for data science roles. The mentor will collaborate with the curriculum team to refine learning materials, align content with industry needs, and help design assessments. This role also involves monitoring student progress, offering constructive guidance, and fostering an inclusive, learner-centered environment.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and data analysis, with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly to learners.
- Hands-on experience with data science tools and programming languages such as Python or R, and familiarity with libraries used for data manipulation and machine learning.
- Knowledge of machine learning workflows, including data preprocessing, model selection, evaluation, and deployment fundamentals.
- Experience working with real-world datasets, performing exploratory data analysis, and communicating insights through visualizations.
- Demonstrated mentoring, teaching, or coaching experience, with strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to design and review assignments, projects, and assessments that align with industry expectations for data science roles.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or related discipline.
- Comfort working in a classroom-based, on-site environment in Trivandrum, with a collaborative approach to working with academic and training teams.
- Prior industry experience in data science, analytics, or related roles is highly beneficial, as is familiarity with placement preparation for technology careers.
