About Lumera Institute

Lumera Institute is a new, independent higher education institute in formation, established to meet the demands of Australia’s social services sector. Our goal is clear and time-bound: to achieve TEQSA registration and course accreditation by December 2027, positioning Lumera to commence course delivery with confidence, credibility, and purpose in 2028. We are now entering a critical build phase and are seeking experienced Curriculum writers / Academic content developers to help design and develop original, high-quality curriculum for the Bachelor of Community Services, the Master of Social work, and the MBA (Social Services specialisation).  

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to contribute to the creation of a new higher education institute from the ground up. You will play a key role in shaping innovative, applied, and industry-connected curriculum aligned to Lumera’s vision of producing work-ready graduates who meet critical community needs.

For the Bachelor of Community Services, we seek curriculum developing expertise in:

  • Foundations of Community Services Practice
  • Social Policy, Welfare Systems & Advocacy
  • Human Development & Behaviour
  • Case Management & Communication Skills
  • Ethics, Legal Frameworks & Professional Practice

 

For the Master of Social Work, we seek curriculum developing expertise in:

  • Advanced Social Work Practice & Interventions
  • Human Behaviour, Trauma & Mental Health
  • Social Policy, Justice & Structural Inequality
  • Research Methods & Evidence-Based Practice
  • Ethics, Law & Professional Identity

 

For the MBA (Social Services specialisation), we seek curriculum developing expertise in:

  • Strategy, Governance & Ethical Leadership
  • Finance, Accounting & Sustainable Funding
  • Marketing, Stakeholder Engagement & Growth
  • Data, Artificial Intelligence & Decision Analytics
  • Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Social Enterprise

 

Your Education, Experience and Skills

  • A doctoral qualification (AQF Level 10) in a relevant discipline or a Master’s degree (AQF Level 9) with substantial evidence of scholarly activity and experience in postgraduate teaching and/or curriculum design.
  • Demonstrated ability to design curriculum aligned to AQF Level 9 descriptors, including advanced knowledge, critical thinking, and research-informed practice
  • Experience in course and unit development, including learning outcomes, assessment design, and constructive alignment.
  • Strong understanding of academic governance, quality assurance, and TEQSA regulatory expectations.
  • Understanding of student-centred, inclusive, and culturally responsive pedagogy.
  • Ability to design industry-relevant, work-integrated learning experiences.
  • Familiarity with quality assurance processes, including moderation and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written communication and ability to work collaboratively with academic and industry stakeholders.
