We started Jeli & Co because we couldn't find what we were looking for — a service that treats older adults as the most interesting people in the room. That preserves their stories. That gives their families genuine peace of mind.
We are now looking for our first Companions in London.
Not carers. Not support workers. People with warmth, curiosity, and the kind of presence that makes someone feel genuinely heard.
The work: regular visits to older adults across London — conversation, walks, shared meals, outings, and simply sitting together with no agenda beyond honest company. After each visit, a brief written note. The emphasis is always on presence rather than task.
The people who tend to thrive in this role come from teaching, hospitality, the arts, counselling, cabin crew, community-facing work, or simply from a life where listening well has always come naturally. We particularly welcome applications from people who speak languages other than English.
What matters most is not your background. It is your character — emotional steadiness, genuine curiosity about other people's lives, and the reliability that lets a client trust that you will be there.
No care qualification required. Full training provided. Self-employed, part-time, flexible hours (minimum of 2-3 hours per week). London-based.
