Role Description The Co-Teacher is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt, supporting the class teacher in delivering high-quality learning experiences. Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting with lesson delivery, guiding small group and individual learning activities, and providing differentiated support to meet diverse student needs. The Co-Teacher helps with lesson preparation, classroom resources, and maintaining an organized, safe, and inclusive learning environment. The role involves monitoring student progress, contributing to pastoral care, and communicating effectively with the teaching team and, when appropriate, with families. The Co-Teacher participates in staff meetings, training sessions, and school events to support the wider school community.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To provide general support with the class teacher in the management of individual and groups of students and the classroom.
  • In co-operation with the class teacher, to plan and work with students in the classroom to provide physical/general care and assist with their learning.
  • Provide for the students welfare/personal care both individually and in groups, and ensure their safety.
  • Act as a role model, show awareness of individual needs and respond to them,
  • Encourage student interaction and engagement with teacher led activities.
  • Support and supervise students in lessons in relation to learning.
  • Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health, safety, welfare, security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Be aware of and take part in the schools professional learning framework and participate in training and development activities as required.
  • Assist with the supervision of students out of lesson times and accompany school trips and other out of school activities with the teacher as required.
  • Undertake any other similar duties as required.
  • Contribute to the extra curricula activities of the school and be involved in school development.

Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong teaching and education skills, with a clear understanding of primary or early years pedagogy.
  • Candidates should possess effective lesson planning and training skills to support structured, engaging classroom activities.
  • Candidates should possess excellent communication skills, including clear spoken and written English for interaction with students, colleagues, and families.
  • Relevant teaching assistant or co-teaching experience in an international or British curriculum school is highly beneficial.
  • A relevant diploma or degree in Education or a related field is preferred, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multicultural team, demonstrate cultural sensitivity, and promote an inclusive classroom environment.
