As the Clinical Educator, you will be accountable for the training and education of field staff within the district. You will deliver training, education, and in‑services for all business lines as outlined by the district education plan, ensuring the delivery of safe, quality care and service.
Responsibilities
- Select and educate preceptors for students on placement
- Provide clinical orientation to nurses
- Arrange mandatory or center‑specific education, including back‑care training
- Operationalize the district educational plan with the Care and Services Manager
- Deliver PSS training programs in the district
- Conduct needs analysis to support creation of education plan for the district
- Stay informed of changes in practice settings that affect scope of practice
- Champion Para Med’s policies and procedures through staff education and training
- Integrate client‑centered practice expectations in all education and training events
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse licence in good standing with the provincial regulatory college
- 3 to 5 years of experience in an adult education environment
- Preferably 2 to 3 years of experience as a practicing RN in a community setting
- CNA certification as a Community Health Nurse is an asset
- Knowledge of applicable legislation:
Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Healthcare Consent Act, Privacy / Personal Health Information Act - Competence in best practices and standards of care for palliative, wound care, intravenous therapy, oncology and other specialties relevant to district needs
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills
- Exceptional critical‑thinking and problem‑solving skills
- Knowledge of community resources available for clients and families
- Commitment to professional development through involvement in relevant committees, memberships and associations
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle; ability to travel across the district to deliver education
- Excellent computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
