Accounting & Payroll About the Role
We are looking for a knowledgeable and industry-experienced instructor to teach in our Business Administration:
Accounting & Payroll diploma program. The ideal candidate brings both strong subject matter expertise and a passion for supporting student success in a career-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, practical, and industry-relevant instruction in accounting and payroll courses
- Prepare lesson plans, course materials, and assessments aligned with program outcomes
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Support students in developing job-ready skills (e.g., bookkeeping, payroll processing, compliance)
- Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and academic records
- Stay current with industry trends, payroll legislation, and accounting practices
- Participate in program reviews, curriculum updates, and academic meetings
- Collaborate with Career Services to support student employability
Courses May Include
- Payroll Compliance & Legislation (CRA, ESA)
- Computerized Accounting (e.g., Quick Books, Sage)
- Business Mathematics
- Excel for Accounting
- Ethics and Professional Practice
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA designation preferred or in progress)
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant industry experience in accounting and/or payroll
- Experience with Canadian payroll systems and legislation (CRA, WSIB, etc.)
- Proficiency in accounting software (Quick Books, Sage) and MS Excel
- Prior teaching or training experience is an asset
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse learners
- Organized, reliable, and student-focused
- Comfortable using LMS platforms and digital tools
