About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated British Sign Language (BSL) Teacher to join our inclusive and supportive school community in Wandsworth. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting Deaf and hearing-impaired students, as well as promoting inclusive communication across the school.
You will deliver high-quality BSL teaching, enabling students to access the curriculum, develop communication skills, and build confidence in a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging BSL lessons tailored to a range of abilities
- Support Deaf and hearing-impaired students in accessing the curriculum
- Assess, monitor and report on student progress
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams and support staff
- Promote Deaf awareness and inclusive communication across the school
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to student reviews and EHCP processes
About You
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification
- Minimum BSL Level 3 qualification (Level 6 desirable)
- Experience working with Deaf or hearing-impaired learners
- Strong understanding of inclusive and differentiated teaching practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
