Qualifications

  • Professional Educator License and at least one of the following endorsements:
    Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1), Speech and Language Pathologist (non‑teaching), School Social Worker, or School Psychologist
  • Type 75 Administrative, Principal’s Leadership Endorsement, or Director of Special Education Endorsement
  • 2-4 years experience in leadership position
  • Illinois State Board of Education issued teacher and principal evaluator designations
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Essential Functions

  • Understand, implement, and share all SASED and School District building policies and assist in the development of administrative processes and procedures.
  • Support the vision for learning for all students and implement a strategic plan to accomplish that vision, focusing on social and emotional supports.
  • Assist school stakeholders in articulating a clear and shared vision for learning.
  • Ensure a safe, secure and orderly environment for all.
  • Promote high-quality instructional practices and social and emotional instruction that consistently allow for excellent instruction school-wide.
  • Be visible and consistent presence throughout the school.
  • Provide staff with timely and constructive feedback on classroom instruction to develop teacher practice.
  • Clearly communicate learning and development goals that reflect high expectations for learning and growth, a belief that all students can learn, and a commitment to meet each student’s individualized educational needs.
  • Develop a culture of collegial and professional relationships among staff and students that promote critical reflection, shared accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage conflict constructively at all levels.
  • Assist with the assignment of staff and support the professional growth of staff members in a differentiated manner based on identified needs and individual goals.
  • Build leadership capacity among staff.
  • Support the collection, analysis, and use of multiple sources of data to guide continuous improvement in student achievement, student and staff well‑being, and professional development for staff.
  • Develop positive and collaborative relationships with families.
  • Self‑motivated to initiate and sustain relationships with community business, cultural and nonprofit partners.
  • Assist with managing the school budget, requisitions, and all school funds.
  • Oversee and coordinate student transportation, including drop off and pick up.
  • Respond to and coordinate all student discipline in coordination with the principal.
  • Attend and support PLCs, early/late releases, and other staff meetings in coordination with the principal.
  • Oversee the upkeep of school facilities and building and manage and oversee all safety drills.
  • Evaluate certified and non-certified staff as assigned by the principal.
  • Ensure students with disabilities receive a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment in accordance with state and federal law.
  • Coordinate compliance with ISBE regulations and mandates, including IEP compliance and implementation, maintaining accurate records, and sharing new information.
  • Assess student needs and recommend and monitor student support programs ensuring equitable opportunity for success for all students.
  • Oversee testing accommodations and alternate testing.
  • Coordinate and supervise ESY Programs.
  • Support quality school and community relations through coordination and participation in special programs, e.g., open houses, parent and student programs.
  • Maintain knowledge of current research and best practices in education through professional reading and memberships.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
