Le Département d'Histoire, Économie et Société de la Faculté des sciences de la société et le Global Studies Institute proposent l'ouverture d'un poste d'assistant-e à 100% qui sera réparti à raison de 60% au sein de la Faculté des Sciences de la Société et de 40% au sein du Global Studies Institute.
Le poste comprend la prise en charge des séminaires de cours dispensés en histoire économique et économie politique, tant dans les formations facultaires du Département d'histoire, économie et société que dans le cadre du Bachelor en relations internationales (BARI). La/le candidat-e devra également corriger les travaux pratiques, préparer, surveiller et corriger les examens, et participer à l'encadrement des étudiants pour leurs mémoires et projets de recherche.
Elle/Il s'engage, en outre, à entreprendre des études de doctorat et rédiger une thèse en histoire économique contemporaine sur des sujets économiques, financiers et/ou monétaires.
Elle/Il devra participer activement à la vie intellectuelle du Département d'histoire, économie et société, de l'Institut d'histoire économique Paul Bairoch et du Global Studies Institute, ainsi que prendre en charge quelques tâches administratives.
Titre et compétences exigés
- La/Le candidat-e doit être titulaire d'un Master et Bachelor (ou titre jugé équivalent) en économie, en histoire économique ou en sciences sociales;
- avoir une capacité de réflexion théorique et d'analyse empirique;
- maîtriser le français et l'anglais, à l'oral et à l'écrit.

Informations complémentaires
La durée de l'engagement est de 5 ans maximum, avec des renouvellements tous les deux ans (2+2+1) sur fonds du Département de l'Instruction Publique (DIP). La première année constitue une période d'essai au cours de laquelle il peut être mis fin aux rapports de service moyennant le respect d'un délai de résiliation de 3 mois pour la fin d'un mois.
Le sujet de thèse doit être officiellement déposé auprès de la Faculté avant le terme de la première année.

The Department of History, Economics and Society of the Geneva School of Social Sciences and the Global Studies Institute propose the opening of an assistant position at 100% which will be allocated as follows: 60% to the Geneva School of Social Sciences and 40% to the Global Studies Institute.
The post involves teaching seminars classes in economic history and political economy, both within the faculty programmes of the Department of History, Economics and Society and as part of the Bachelor’s degree in International Relations (BARI). The successful candidate will also be required to mark practical assignments, prepare, invigilate and mark examinations, and assist with the supervision of students’ dissertations and research projects.
Furthermore, she/he undertakes to pursue doctoral studies and write a thesis in contemporary economic history on economic, financial and/or monetary topics.
She/he will be expected to participate actively in the academic life of the Department of History, Economics and Society, the Paul Bairoch Institute of Economic History, and the Global Studies Institute, as well as to carry out certain administrative tasks.
Necessary Skills And Experiences
- The succesful candidate must hold a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) in economics, economic history or social sciences;
- possess the ability to engage in theoretical reflection and empirical analysis;
- be proficient in French and English, both spoken and written.

Further information
The maximum duration of this contract is 5 years, with renewals every two years (2-2-1) from the budget of the Département de l'Instruction Publique (DIP). The first year represents a probationary period during which the contract may be terminated with a period of notice of 3 months for the end of a month.
The subject of the successful candidate's thesis must be formally submitted to the Geneva School of Social Sciences, for its consideration, before the end of the first year.
