Job Description
Basic Function
Responsible for assisting with homework and/or preparing interesting and engaging lessons in several subject areas to teach to the students. Tutors will check homework, provide assignments, give timely feedback, and work with students individually to ensure their success. This position is for 12 hours per week from 3 pm to 7 pm. Site placement will determine what days you will work.
Responsibilities
Assisting students with homework or projects assigned by the school
Prepare weekly activities for academic and cultural enrichment.
Selects, adapts, and prepares materials for classes.
Engages students in classwork and activities, such as reading, sentence construction, composition, grammar, and math problem-solving.
Maintains a healthy learning environment in the classroom.
Maintains accurate, complete, and appropriate records and files.
Helps students develop critical and higher-order thinking skills.
Provides individual support and attention to students as required through tutorials and individual meetings.
Evaluate students’ performance through class work, class participation, homework, and tests.

Education
Some college required/college degree preferred. Proficiency in language arts and/or math
Experience
Previous experience working with elementary and middle school-aged children.

Experience working with the refugee and immigrant community
