Overview
We are looking for a caring, patient and reliable Teaching Assistant to support pupils in a specialist SEN school in Cardiff. The school supports primary‑aged pupils with autism spectrum conditions and significant sensory, social communication and learning needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide classroom support to enable pupils to access learning safely and independently.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, families and professionals to meet individual needs throughout the school day.
- Support pupils requiring medical care, such as diabetes monitoring, in line with their Individual Healthcare Plan.
- Monitor blood glucose levels, recognise signs of hypo/hyperglycaemia, support snacks and mealtimes, maintain accurate records and follow agreed school procedures.
- Follow safeguarding procedures and medical care plans with confidence and attention to detail.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed Administering Medication training.
- Experience working with children or young people.
- Calm, caring, and patient approach.
- Confidence following Individual Healthcare Plans.
- Good attention to detail and record‑keeping skills.
- Experience in SEN, ALN, education, care or medical support settings.
- Reliable and professional attitude.
