Academic Employee in Frödin Group, BRIC

We are looking for a highly motivated Academic Employee, who will provide technical and administrative support for a research project that uses our CRISPR-Select knockin technology to determine, which mutations in the Low-Density Lipoprotein Receptor (LDLR) that causes familial hypercholesterolemia.

The tasks consist of developing and setting up the assay such that it becomes functional and can be integrated into BRIC's FACS core facility. Specifically, protocols must be optimized and written for delivery of CRISPR knockin constructs to cells, cell culture, cellular LDL cholesterol uptake in the assay's model cells and FACS analyses thereof, extraction of DNA and NGS. Once this pipeline is optimized, assay model cell lines for various atherosclerosis genes must be established and the assays must be validated. Finally, the task includes supporting the implementation of the assays in the group's research projects until the assays are embedded in these. This work involves the development of protocols and work procedures as well as data collection and calculations for the assays for the researchers/research projects.

Our group and research

We use functional genetics to unravel the genes, mutations and mechanisms that cause human disease. Our research takes outset in the myriad of genes found mutated by patient genome sequencing. We develop genetic cell and mouse models harboring the patient mutations in order to test the genes and/or mutations as bona fide novel disease genes/mutations.

Your Profile

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Research Assistant with the following competencies and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Molecular Biomedicine, or related sciences.
  • Prior extensive practical experience and expertise in genomic knockin engineering using CRISPR-Cas9 is required as well as FACS skills.
  • Experience in basic cellular and molecular biology is required
  • Excellent English skills, written and spoken
