Academic Coach, Alpha – $100,000/year USD Jobs in Tampa, FL at Crossover

Title: Academic Coach, Alpha – $100,000/year USD

Company: Crossover

Location: Tampa, FL

  • On-site position in Houston, TX — campuses in Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands (relocation assistance available)
  • $100,000 annual salary, distributed weekly. Full health, dental, and vision coverage from day one

The most caring action you can take for a student who reached 99% of their target is to refuse to accept it as complete. If that expectation feels uncomfortable, this position is not the right fit. If it energizes you because you understand that upholding high standards demonstrates your belief in a student's capability, continue reading.

Alpha operates differently from conventional schools. Students complete a full academic day in approximately two hours using adaptive software. No traditional lectures. No textbooks. Your role centers on what technology cannot replicate: coaching students from Pre-K through 8th grade on essential life skills including public speaking, concentration, and constructive feedback exchange. You will spend half your time facilitating hands-on workshops guided by structured playbooks and narrative techniques. The remaining half involves working with students individually or in small groups, analyzing their adaptive learning progress through Coachbot analytics, and driving them toward 100% completion of weekly objectives. Mastery is demonstrated through Test2Pass assessments rather than participation-based grades.

During your first year, you will manage a student cohort and become proficient in Alpha's framework: life skill workshops, motivational sessions, and mastery-based evaluation. Once you consistently hold every student accountable to 100% goal completion while maintaining satisfaction scores above 90%, advancement to Lead Guide becomes accessible. In that capacity, you mentor other Guides while maintaining direct student engagement. High performers in this role do not merely impact individual students; they influence entire campus cultures.

If you have years of experience coaching, counseling, or mentoring young people and have longed to eliminate traditional instruction in favor of pure developmental work, this opportunity aligns with that vision.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Facilitating one-hour life skill workshops for Pre-K through 8th grade students covering public speaking, focus, collaboration, and feedback skills (activity-based and hands-on)
  • Conducting daily individual and small-group sessions where you assess each student's adaptive learning app progress (via Coachbot analytics), establish objectives, and drive them toward 100% weekly completion
  • Overseeing and evaluating Test2Pass assessments to verify genuine mastery of each life skill rather than mere attendance
  • Adjusting your coaching approach across diverse age groups, from Pre-K learners requiring high energy and physical activity to 8th graders needing direct conversation and accountability
  • Cultivating authentic connections with each student to establish the trust necessary for them to accept guidance through challenges, distractions, and uncertainty

What You Won’t Be Doing

  • Presenting traditional academic instruction or lectures (core academic content is delivered through adaptive applications, not by you)
  • Creating lesson plans or developing curriculum independently (Alpha supplies life skills playbooks; your responsibility is to execute them with enthusiasm and narrative skill)
  • Handling parent communications or administrative duties (Campus Leads manage those functions; you concentrate on student engagement)
  • Evaluating homework or preparing students for standardized tests (these elements do not exist in this model)
  • Operating independently (you collaborate within a campus team including Lead Guides, Campus Leads, and colleagues who provide mutual feedback and accountability)

Academic Coach Key Responsibilities

Guarantee that every student in your cohort develops a love for school, achieves mastery of critical life skills, and reaches 100% of their academic objectives through adaptive learning technology.

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • 3+ years of direct experience with Pre-K through 8th grade students (teaching, coaching, counseling, or youth program management)
  • Demonstrated experience motivating or coaching Pre-K–8 students toward academic, behavioral, or extracurricular objectives, including at least one concrete example you can articulate (the objective, your actions, and the result)
  • Regular use of generative AI platforms (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude)
  • Availability to work on-site at Alpha's Central Houston, South Houston, or The Woodlands campus (relocation assistance provided)
  • Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship

Nice-to-have Requirements

  • Background in youth sports coaching, camp leadership, or after-school programs where you held direct responsibility for motivating children to achieve defined objectives
  • History of notable personal accomplishment (academic distinction, competitive athletics, or leadership positions demanding sustained excellence)
  • Innate storytelling capability: you can maintain the attention of a room full of 12-year-olds for an hour without increasing your volume
  • Success motivating disengaged or reluctant students and converting them into active contributors
