Role Description The 5th Grade Teacher (Generalist) is a full-time, on-site role based in Washington, DC. This educator is responsible for planning and delivering standards-based instruction across core subjects, including literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, while differentiating lessons to meet diverse learning needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include creating engaging lesson plans, managing a positive and inclusive classroom environment, assessing student progress, and providing regular feedback to students and families. The teacher collaborates with grade-level and school-based teams, participates in professional development, and aligns instruction with DCPS curricula and policies. Additional duties include maintaining accurate records, communicating with caregivers, and contributing to school-wide initiatives that support student success and well-being.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Teaching and Elementary Education skills, with demonstrated experience engaging 5th grade learners.
- Candidates should possess Curriculum Development and Education skills to design, adapt, and implement standards-aligned instructional materials.
- Candidates should possess excellent Communication skills for collaborating with colleagues, partnering with families, and supporting students.
- Relevant qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field and appropriate teaching licensure or eligibility for DC certification.
