HOUSTON SECONDARY SCHOOL .50 FTE CONTINUING ASSIGNMENT SOCIALS 8 and ENGLISH 8

EFFECTIVE: September 1, 2026
This position is eligible for the current provincial recruitment and retention allowance for new certified teachers to SD54.
The Successful Candidate Will
- Have University qualifications and successful teaching experience in teaching the above-listed subject areas at a junior level
- Foster a student-centered environment in the classroom
- Have good interpersonal skills and a history of successful classroom management
- Have successful experience supporting Indigenous students and vulnerable/at-risk students
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaborative skills and ability to work as a team member
- Be committed to collaborative planning, consultation, parent conferences and positive home / school / community liaison
- Have knowledge of and commitment to using current assessment strategies
- Have a commitment to the directions of the school as outlined in the School Growth Plan
- Embed the First Nations Principles of Learning in all subject areas
- Be committed to and practice the philosophy of Inclusion
- Have experience in the use of technology in the classroom
- Be committed to working as a cooperative, collaborative member of a school wide instructional team and attend meetings as required

SALARY: The starting annual salary for full-time teaching position ranges from $66,538 to $116,870, with placement on the range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with the collective agreement. Additionally, $3,500 annually as a Remote & Rural Allowance (Effective July 1, 2026) .
